Nutrients Review

Nutrients-
Nutrients are simply described in the following way, "Nutrients are chemical elements that are essential to plant and animal nutrition. Nitrogen and phosphorus are nutrients that are important to aquatic life, but in high concentrations they can be contaminants in water. These nutrients occur in a variety of forms. Both are affected by chemical and biological processes that can change their form and can transfer them to or from water, soil, biological organisms, and the atmosphere." - Mueller and Helsel, 1996.

The nutrients are the following:
-Carbohydrates-
-Protein-
-Lipids (fats and oils)-
-Vitamins-
-Minerals-
-Water-

Carbohydrates-
In carbohydrates there are two types, simple, and complex. Simple carbohydrates give you short term energy, and complex give you long term energy. It is very important to add in your diet. Carbohydrates are made out of Oxygen, Carbon, and Hydrogen.

Protein-
Proteins are made of amino acids. Also, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. You need to proteins for your diet too, but not as much as you need your carbohydrates. Proteins also help you in your growth and your maintains for your muscles. Wheat, corn, rice, and beans are considered proteins but they are low, meat fish, milk and fish are considered rich in protein.

Lipids-
Lipids are used for chemical reactions and they make up cells. There are two types, saturated and non-saturated. Saturated in slid in room tempter, and non- saturated in liquid.butter is an example of saturated fats, and vegetable oils.

Vitamins-
There are 6 types of vitamins, A,B,C,D,E, and K. They all have different functions for your body. You don't digest vitamins because they are too small. They are also crucial for your diet, they help you universally around your body.

Minerals-
minerals are also very small like vitamins, and they are also used universally around your body, and the main minerals are calcium, zion,

First Two Day's Of School

What was the purpose of these first two days of school and what are my plans for this year?”

The first two days of school where a little bit of everything. Emotions of happiness to see your friends again, and also a you get to feel nervous because you don't know you future teachers, their expectations, and how will they act and all. Science again was a class that I have right after lunch, and thats the way I like it, its just simply better. Also we got to have the lab as our class room, (which I prefer because I just like the environment  more in that class), but I also got the same teacher!
The first class we got to do a challenge, that I was so happy that my group won! We had to do the marshmallow challenge, which included the following materials, tape, 20 straws of spaghetti, yarn string, and the marshmallow. So the challenge was to build a structure that would hold by its self, and it had to have the marshmallow  on top of the structure. Now what was challenging was having your building had to hold the marshmallow and you had to try to make it as tall as possible. It was so exciting!
What made everything interesting is that we watched a video of how kindergartners made better structures then adults did! Can you believe that! The real secret to succeed in this challenge is to construct a basic structure, and then but the marshmallow on top, and then refroce the structure, to make sure that it won't break, or snap the spaghetti.
The next day I wasn't present in class for personal reasons, but my friends told me they just check stuff about how we would all write this blog that I'm doing now. In conclusion, the first two days are crucial, you get an idea of the rest of the year, and also you get to know what you'll learn this year, well thats that for this post. Bye good luck everyone in you science class this year!!!!! :)
